Course Description

This course offers an understanding of sensory processing – particularly sensory profiles and how to understand these in order to support your therapy. This introduction can offer a firm foundation to strengthen your understanding of sensory processing, to further refine your knowledge about this topic

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

Identify the 3 main profiles of sensory processing.
Describe strategies that may be supportive or should be avoided for each sensory processing profile.
Explain the basic senses and summarize which sensory inputs may have calming or alerting effects.

Mrs Jacqui Jorge

Occupational therapist
Jacqui qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2005 from the University of Pretoria and her Masters degree in Paediatrics through WITS in 2012 which included her Sensory Integration Training. She completed her NDT and Advanced NDT in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Her love for learning has extended into training as a TRE provider in 2021 and completed her Diploma in Cranio Sacral Therapy in 2023.
Jacqui has been in private paediatric practice since 2008 when she co-founded Sensory Matters Occupational Therapists.
Jacqui is married and a mother of two beautiful teens who have given her insight into parenting and taught her so much along the way!
Jacqui loves training and sharing knowledge as well as mentoring other therapists.
